intracalicular increase mode

Summary

mode of increase in which a new corallite emerges from within the body area of a parent calice (or more strictly, parent corallite), as defined by its thecal wall. (Often called 'intratentacular budding' in scleractinian taxonomy.) See also Extracalicular increase.
