Summary

a continuous to discontinuous surficial ridge on the calicular surface of a colony, surrounding one or more calicular centres, or not directly related to centres at all. ('Carina' has sometimes been used in the latter case, not be to be confused with septal carinae.) See also 'Colline', Wall.
