Colonial. massive, meandroid. Budding mainly intracalicinal-terminal, producing wavy and ramified calicinal series, separated by often tectiform collines. Calicinal centers generally indistinct. Costosepta compact, strongly beaded laterally. Ambulacra irregularly present. Perithecal dissepiments vesicular. Columella lamellar, discontinuous. Wall parathecal and septothecal.
Remarks
A re-examination of the type material by Baron-Szabo (2002) revealed that the type species of the genus Meandroria Alloiteau, 1952a, closely corresponded to the generic concept of Dictuophyllia Blainville, but some species which have been assigned to Meandroria corresponded to the genus Orbignygyra Alloiteau, 1952a (=junior synonym of Cycloria Reuss, see discussion under Cycloria), e.g. the species Orbignygyra tenella (Goldfuss, 1826).
