Meandramorpha

Babaev, 1973, p. 107

Meandramorpha Babaev, 1973, p. 107 is a junior synonym (available and invalid), see Clausastrea d'Orbigny 1849 in Edwards and Haime, 1849, p. 159.

Type Species

Meandraraea (?) korthensis Bendukidze 1949, p.89/151, pl. 7 fig. 4; Original Designation

Type Specimen: Holotype; GNM 21/23; Not Traced; Unknown

Type Locality: Upper Oxfordian (Upper Jurassic) from Korta (South Ossetia)

After a nomen nudum" Meandrarea korthiensis" in 1948, Bendukidze 1949 assigned her available species korthensis to Meandraraea with some doubts. Babaev 1973 created the genus Meandramorpha based on Meandraraea korthensis Bendukidze 1949 and created a second species M. daschkessanica (after a nomen nudum in 1967, p. 140). In 1982 Bendukidze reassigned her species to Clausastrea korthensis and the description of dissepiments initially depicted as vesiculose was then corrected as "sinusoidal tabuloid dissepiments" . M. daschkessanica that has a true wall between series cannot be a Clausastrea but cannot be named Meandramorpha anymore.
