Oken, 1815, p.70

Maeandra Oken, 1815, p.70 is a junior synonym (available and invalid), see Meandrina Lamarck, 1801, p.372.

Maeandra was originally described by Oken (1815, p. 70). Vaughan (1901) designated one of Oken's two species, "Madrepora maeandrites Linnaeus", as the type species of the genus. However, according to ICZN decision 417, the names originally proposed by Oken (1815) are rejected. Vaughan, 1901, p. 15 also synonymized Maeandra Oken with Meandrina Lamarck by Vaughan, 1901, p. 15.
