Classification

Diagnosis

Corallum ceratoid, cornute, with a pointed base and elliptical in cross section; GCD up t 3.2 mm; theca imperforate and mostly epithecate, originating by trifurcation; septa hexamerally arranged in 4 incomplete cycles (up to 44 septa); paliform lobes before S2 and sometimes S3; columella papillose.

Comparisons

Differs from Cryptotrochus in having smooth costae and a cornuted corallum.

Remarks

This genus and family was monographed by Cairns (1997), which included a phylogenetic analysis based on morphology. Monotypic.
