Jugodendron Quenstedt, 1880, p. 798 is a junior synonym (available and invalid), see Latomeandra d'Orbigny ms in Milne Edwards and Haime 1849, p.271.

Type Species

Lithodendron diductum Quenstedt, 1880, p. 798 pl. 174 fig.15; Subsequent Designation Wells, 1986 p. 34

Type Specimen: Syntype; GPIT AN/1157-1158; Verified; Dry Preserved

Type Locality: Kimmeridgian (Upper Jurassic) from Nattheim (Germany)

The type specimen is a unique syntype, it is silicified, badly preserved, and corresponds to a proximal part of a broken colony. No section available.

Classification

Description

Apparently meandroid flabelloid but it is probably the base of a phacelo-meandroid colony. Outer surface covered with equal costae. Intracalicinal increase producing short series. Radial elements compact or subcompact (?), curved. Distal and inner edge not observed. Lateral faces with pennulae. No palis. Microstructure unknown. Hexameral symmetry not deciphered, bilateral symmetry marked by the curvature of septa. Endotheca of vesicular dissepiments sloping down to the center. Probably a parietal columella. Synapticulae not observed but possibly present. Wall absent within a series but present close to the periphery of the colony.
