Type Locality: Oxfordian (Upper Jurassic) of St Mihiel (Meuse, France)

The complicate nomenclatural story is given in (Lathuilière 1987). Initially Alloiteau (1948) founded his genus on Latomeandra corrugata Edwards and Haime. Later he (Alloiteau 1953) recognised the authorship of Michelin for this species. Beauvais 1964 selected a neotype under the name of Meandrophyllia corrugata (p. 208, pl. 35, fig. 3 text-fig. 46B).

Classification

Description

Massive meandroid corallum with short open valleys, with septa of valleys, without ambulacrum. The lower surface of the neotype is worn and smooth. Radial elements are probably subcompact. Frequently anastomosed, straight to curved. Thickness rather constant. Distal edge moniliform. Detached trabeculae at the inner distal edge. Bilateral symmetry characterised by the curvature of septa. Septal structure probably pennular. Columella parietal produced by detached trabeculae. Endotheca not observed. Synapticules probably present. Wall of unknown nature.
