Dendrohelia

Etallon in Thurmann and Etallon 1864, p. 358

Type Species

Madrepora coalescens Goldfuss 1826 p.22, pl.8 fig. 6; Monotypy

Type Specimen: Unknown; ; Lost; Unknown

Type Locality: „Angeblich aus Gothland“ (according to Goldfuss)

The type material of Goldfuss is lost. The sample of Etallon also. In Etallon 1860, (p. 20 of the reprint, probably p. 190 in the periodic) Dendrohelia is a nomen nudum. In 1864, Etallon in Thurmann and Etallon referred his species to Madrepora coalescens Goldfuss and proposed a synonymy with his own work about the “rayonnés de Montbéliard” p. 36, which is probably a mistake. Dendrohelia from the Upper Jurassic collected by Thurmann and Etallon are here assigned to Stylohelia . Dendrohelia should be abandoned.

Remarks

Four nominal species were created.
