Classification
Diagnosis
Cerioid with temporary short series; increase intacalicular by corallite division; septa compact, thin, non-confluent, anastomosing, septal sides with granules, synapticulae numerous, rod-like; columella parietal; endotheca dissepimental, wall septo-synapticular, zigzag.
Comparisons
The coral was classified into the Siderastreidae, although it differs from other genera of this family in compact septa. In its thin and abundant septa it is similar to Astraraea Felix, assigned to the Haplaraeidae, from which it differs in nonconfluent septa and a cerioid type of colony. In general morphology of thin septa and a cerioid colony, it also is similar to Aptian Plesiothamnasteria Alloiteau which, however, has septa resembling those in Isastrea.
Distribution
- Southern Europe; Early Cretaceous
