Diagnosis
Colonial, massive as in Faviidae and Heliastreidae. Corallites directly united by a septothecal or perithecal wall. Peritheca vesicular or cellular, sparsely developed, upper surface beaded. Costosepta compact, granulated, consisting of relatively small trabeculae, often arranged in two divergent systems. Columella and pali present. Septal flanks ornamented with very large tubercules which are aligned in rows; their distal marginsare covered by pointed, thin, slightly unequal denticles.
