Type Specimen: Syntype; MŻKW III-413/3, 14;III-986/4,6,16; Verified; Dry Preserved

Type Locality: Bochnia salt mine, vicinity of Crakow, Poland. Badenian, Middle Miocene, Neogene.

The collection is housed at the Museum of the Wieliczka Salt Mine (abbreviate MŻKW), Wieliczka near Cracow

Classification

Diagnosis

Solitary. Radial elements of an open type, their costal part rudimentary. Pali in front of the septa of the third size order. Columella parietal. Endotheca dissepimental, poorly developed. Wall marginothecal with a thick deposit of tectura.

Comparisons

The genus differs from Caryophyllia in open-type radial elements and a marginothecal wall (named "archaeotheca" in earlier literature), covered by a thick deposit of tectura. From Coenocyathus it differs in a solitary growth form.

Remarks

Only the type species is known.
