Type Locality: Recent: South Australia, 16-148 m

Type species well described by Cairns and Parker (1992: 39). Paratypes also deposited at SAM and USNM (see Stranks, 1993).

Classification

Diagnosis

Corallum cylindrical, resulting from transverse division, the anthocyathus stage up to 11 mm in GCD; theca imperforate; finely granular, higher cycle costae originating by trifurcation; septa hexamerally arranged in 4 cycles; small multiple P1-3; columella rudimentary, granular.

Comparisons

Similar to Peponocyathus, but differs in having a rudimentary columella, and multiple paliform lobes per septum

Remarks

This genus and family was monographed by Cairns (1997), which included a phylogenetic analysis based on morphology. Monotypic.
