Type Locality: Kimmeridgian (Upper Jurassic) of Valfin (France)

The holotype is a mediocre mold in plaster. The type-species was never figured.

Description

Phacelo-meandroid corallum. Isolated corallites subcircular with infundibuliform calicular platforms, narrow radiating valleys separated from each other by a rather constant distance. Thick epitheca (after Etallon’s text). Intracalicular increase producing series with a single distinct centre in the width of a valley. No valley septum. Radial elements compact, almost curved. Distal edge with teeth, inner edge and lateral faces not observed. No pali. Hexameral symmetry not deciphered, bilateral symmetry strongly marked by the curvature of septa in the valleys. Endotheca not observed. Papillose columella (after Etallon’s text). Synapticulae not observed. Wall of unknown nature at the periphery of isolated calices and at the periphery of valleys.

Remarks

Five Jurassic nominal species. The type-species could be a synonym of Latomeandra.

Distribution

  • Western Europe; Late Jurassic
Stibastrea structa Gregory was cited from Dogger of India and Bajocian-Oxfordian interval of Iran (Pandey and Fürsich 1993, 2003), but the generic assignation is uncertain.
