Classification

Description

Phaceloid corallum with subcylindrical crowded corallites interpenetrating each other covered by a striated epitheca. No costae. Corallite circular to polygonal in outline, the polygonal pattern is related to the crowded corallites that cause a pseudo-cerioid appearance. Increase by septal budding. Radial elements are compact free or anastomosed, straight or curved, not strongly unequal in thickness. Distal edge, inner edge and lateral faces not observed, no palis. Microstructure unknown. Probable hexameral symmetry with most of S1-S2 reaching the columella and S3 shorter, but disturbed by the septal budding that produces a bilateral symmetry in many corallites. Endotheca not observed. Substyliform to sublamellar columella generally connected with inner edges of the longer septa, no synapticulae, peripheral wall unknown in nature.

Remarks
