Type Species

R. squiresi Owens, 1986, p. 250, figs. 1a-d, 2a; Original Designation

Type Specimen: Holotype; USNM 72797; Verified; Dry Preserved

Type Locality: Recent; : 9 38’30”N, 11 21' 11andquot;E (Philippines), Albatross -5423, 929 m.

Well-described in original description and redescribed by Cairns (1989). Five paratyes also deposited at the USNM.

Classification

Diagnosis

Corallum porous but sturdy; costae consist of thin, dentate ridges; marginal shelf present; septa lamellar and imperforate, with complex dentition; small, simple synapticulae present; columella spongy.

Comparisons

Differs from Letepsammia in having more compact septa.

Remarks

The genus, consisting of two exclusively Recent species, was revised by Cairns (1989).
