Prodiploastrea Wells, 1934, p. 89 is a junior synonym (available and invalid), see Haldonia Duncan, 1879.

Type Species

Prodiploastraea schindewolfi Wells, 1934, p. 89, pl. 4, figs 21–22.; Unknown Wells, 1934, p. 89

Type Specimen: Holotype; ; Not Traced; Unknown

Type Locality: Maastrichtian of Jamaica (Catadupa midway).

The holotype of the type species is housed at NMNH (USNM) under I-74476.

Classification

Remarks

As previously pointed out by Baron-Szabo (2002, p. 32; also compare Baron-Szabo, 2006, p. 34, pl. 6, figs. 2 and 4), that, in lacking synapticulae and septal pores, but having paliform structures and parathecal to septoparathecal wall developments, the type specimen of the genus Prodiploastraea Wells, 1934, differed from Wells’ original description, but instead closely agreed with Haldonia Duncan.
