Proaplophyllia

Nomen substitutum for Aplophyllia d’Orbigny, 1849 based on Lithodendron dichotomum Michelin, 1843 (non L. dichotomum Goldfuss, 1826), which is a junior objective synonym of Stylosmilia Milne Edwards and Haime, 1848 based on Stylosmilia michelini Milne Edwards and Haime, 1848, equivalent of L. dichotomum Michelin.

Classification
Diagnosis
Phaceloid; increase by marginal budding; costosepta exsert; septa of three size orders, S1 septa the longest; costae twice as numerous as septa, their margin covered with granulae; endotheca tabular; wall septothecal, costulated; epithecal rings may develop. .
Description
The type species is described and well illustrated by Roniewicz, 1966 and 1976. Early Jurassic species is known from the Pamirs by Melnikova, 1975.
Comparisons
The genus differs from Goniocora Milne Edwards et Haime, 1851 and Stylosmilia Milne Edwards et Haime, 1848, in lacking columella.
Remarks
A number of nominal species, from them two species were verified.
