Placoseris Fromentel, 1863, p. 330 is junior synonym (available and invalid), see Acrosmilia Orbigny, 1849, vol. 2, p. 203.

Type Species

Placoseris patella Fromentel, 1863, p. 330, pl. 49, fig. 4; Subsequent Designation Vaughan, 1905, p. 399

Type Specimen: Holotype; ; Not Traced; Unknown

Type Locality: Cenomanian of France (Le Mans, Sarthe).

The holotype of the type species is housed at MNHN (Paris) under M03529.

Remarks

The holotype of the type species is largely re-crystallized and, therefore, unrecognizable. Its skeletal structures could correspond to Acrosmilia, Epistreptophyllum, or others.
