Type Specimen: Lectotype; IPB 160; Verified; Dry Preserved

Type Locality: Upper Jurassic Giengen (Germany)

The lectotype is a unique sample not sectionned . Unfortunately the preparation to reveal the columella was not accepted.

Classification

Description

Typically phaceloid corallum, (but the lectotype is a young colony in some part cerioid, in some part plocoid but quasi-phaceloid) Extracalicular increase. Corallite distinct, regularly folded epitheca s. l. Radial elements are typically compact free bicuneiform and straight but sometimes externally flexuous. When the cerioid or the plocoid situation occurs, costae are subconfluent and show a torsion. Lateral ornamentation with small granules, distal edge not dentate. Septal apparatus clearly hexameral. Deep and large axial fossa with a lamellar columella emerging from the floor. Endotheca made of dissepiments sloping down to the center. The wall is peripheral and corresponds neither to the thickest region of costosepta nor the highest part of the endotheca. No synapticule, no palus.

Remarks

12 nominal species known in Jurassic 3 in Cretaceous.
