=P. folliculus (Pourtalès, 1868). 14 syntypes. See Zibrowius (1980, p. 113) for type deposition. Type species best described by Cairns (1979, p. 113) and Zibrowius (1980) as P. folliculus.

Diagnosis
Corallum usually reproduces asexually, producing a cylindrical anthocyathus less than 8 mm GCD; theca imperforate; costae granular, originating by trifurcation; septa hexamerally arranged in 3-4 cycles; small pali before all but last cycle; columella papillose.
Remarks
This genus and family was monographed by Cairns (1997), which included a phylogenetic analysis based on morphology. Six species, including 3 fossil.
