Classification
Diagnosis
Original diagnosis: solitary , cylindrical, trochoid or tympanoid. Flat, circular calice with shallow central pit. Epitheca weakly developed, transverse striation strong. Septa imperforate and formed by one fan system of simple trabeculae, septal sides with granulation. Columella spongy, formed of elongated septa.
Comparisons
Original comparison indicates a proximity of a new genus to Conophyllia, even spongy columella typical of Neoconophyllia does not deny the similitude, because Conophyllia shows a great variability of the structure of columella. However, not abundant septa discernible in the figures differentiate it from Conophyllia.
Distribution
- South Asia; Middle Triassic
