Type Species

Hydnophoropsis thecalis Soehle, 1899, p. 86, pl. 4, figs. 2-3; Original Designation Soehle, 1899, p. 86

Type Specimen: Holotype; ; Not Traced; Unknown

Type Locality: Upper Cretaceous (?Cenomanian) of Germany (Sefelwandalm, Ammergebirge).

The holotype of the type species is housed at BSPG (Munich) under 1899/XX/3.

Classification

Comparisons

Re-investigation of the type material of Hydnophoropsis Soehle, 1899, by Baron-Szabo in 2009 revealed that it showed all characteristics of Placohelia Pocta. Despite that a lamellar columella is not preserved in every corallite, traces of it can be seen in some polyps.

Remarks

The holotype of the type species of Hydnophoropsis Soehle, 1899, is figured under Placohelia.
