Allocoeniopsis

Alloiteau, 1958, p. 11

In the same publication Alloiteau used the different spellings: Allocoeniopsis (p. 12 and pl. 12) and Allocaeniopsis (p. 11). This is obviously a lapsus calami. Then we consider Allocaeniopsis as a nomen vanum. He considered erroneously Stephanocoenia oolitica as coming from the Bathonian of Saint Gaultier (Koby 1907) but the species of Koby was published two years earlier as coming from Grasse Roquevignon (Koby 1905).

Type Species

Stephanocoenia oolitica Koby 1905, p. 860, pl. 54 fig. 3-4; Original Designation

Type Specimen: Lectotype; MNHN A32025; Verified; Dry Preserved

Type Locality: Bathonian (Middle Jurassic) of Grasse Roquevignon (Alpes maritimes, France)

The lectotype is a small skullcap colony with a small part polished.
