Classification
Description
Simple cylindrical or conical corallum. Calice more or less deep. Radial elements numerous subcompact, unequal, straight to curved or even slightly sinuous, anastomosing in the axial zone. Bicuneiform with a short costal part. Distal edge with teeth or granules. Some scarce subhorizontally flattened granules on lateral faces. Parietal narrow spongy (or papillose ?) columella. Dissepiments numerous wide and oblique. Strong granulated equal costae, forming ruffles more or less prominent around the corallum, on which costae are not deviated.
Remarks
After the observation of syntypes, Calamosmilia is kept in synonymy of Epistreptophyllum. However there are some differences between the two type-species (cylindrical form, weaker ornamentation of septa and absence of deviation of costae in Calamosmilia typica). They are considered to represent differences of the species rank.
