Classification

Remarks

Reig Oriol (1995, p. 18) stated that his newly created genus Astrogyropsis differed from Astrogyra Felix in having devlopents of both ambulacrae and septotheca (parathecal to septoparathecal walls and, according to Reig Oriol, no ambulacrae in Astrogyra). However, because ambulacrae are present in the holotype of the type species of Astrogyra and the thecal developments in Astrogyropsis are rather parathecal to septoparathecal, Astrogyropsis is considered a junior synonym of Astrogyra.

Distribution

  • Southern Europe; Late Cretaceous
